Sir Ernest Shackleton is today regarded as one of the greatest leaders that the world has known. Sir Ernest a merchant mariner turned adventurer led an expedition in 1914 to cross the Antarctic. The expedition ran into unimaginable difficulties which left Shackleton and his crew of 27 stranded for 22 months. Shackleton's leadership, courage and tenacity enabled all of the crew to survive under extreme conditions. They simply never gave up! Shackleton's skill in managing the men and the ever changing circumstances are a testament now studied by many.
